A note with CVSS 9.9 for component SV-SMG-SDD was released by SAP on 12.05.2020. The correction/advisory 2835979 was described with "[CVE-2020-6262] Code Injection vulnerability in Service Data Download" and affects the system type ABAP.

A workaround does not exist, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as monthly patch process.

The vulnerability addressed is code injection within ABAP.

Missing authority checks are still the most common security defect related to authorizations in custom code. Service Data Download in SAP SAP Solution Manager Plugin allows an attacker to inject code that can be executed by the application. An attacker could thereby control the behavior of the application and the whole ABAP system leading to Code Injection.

Solution

The input is now properly sanitized to avoid code injection into RFC function modules.
