On 23.06.2020 a security relevant correction has been released by SAP SE. The manufacturer resolves an issue within ABAP.
SAP Note 2938831 addresses "SESS: Duplicate AU3 entries in the Security Audit Log" to prevent missing logging functionality with a medium risk for exploitation.
A workaround does not exist, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as monthly patch process, the team suggests.
Missing authority checks are still the most common security defect related to authorizations in custom code. In certain cases when starting transactions from other transactions (e.g. from SU01) a duplicate AU3 security audit log entry is written.Solution
The correction provides logic to remove duplicate entries have been removed. Please note that a subsequent correction has been released with 3089438.
