Information disclosure is when an application fails to properly protect sensitive and confidential information from
parties that are not supposed to have access to the subject matter in normal circumstances.
Carefully review every information disclosure vulnerablity in regards to disclosure obligations post-GDPR for
‘Personal data’ under the Data Protection Act 2018.
Risk specification
In certain situations, SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise allows a user with regular user credentials and local access to an ASE Cockpit installation to view unauthorized information that appears in the installation log. The log exists in the format of a file on the file system of the host.Solution
In the patched version of SAP ASE Installer, the encrypted information is removed from the installation log file. Circumstances exist that prevent the timely installation of a patch provided by the manufacturer. In such cases, you may consider applying the suggested workaround as a temporary or compensating mitigation: "In case you are using the affected versions then remove the installation log file from your setup.".
