Advisory
On 11.05.2021 a security relevant correction has been released by SAP SE. The manufacturer resolves an issue within SAP Business One.
SAP Note 3049661 addresses "[CVE-2021-27616] Multiple vulnerabilities in SAP Business One, version for SAP HANA (Business-One-Hana-Chef-Cookbook)" to prevent information disclosurecode injection with a high risk for exploitation.
A workaround does exist, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as part of maintenance, the team suggests.
Risk specification
Under certain conditions, Chef business-one-hana-chef-cookbook, used to install test systems for SAP Business One for SAP HANA, allows an attacker to exploit an insecure temporary backup path and to access information that would otherwise be restricted. And it allows an attacker to inject code that can be executed by the application. An attacker could thereby control the behavior of the application.Solution
The program no longer allows an attacker to inject code into the application and no longer discloses information that should be restricted. Circumstances exist that prevent the timely installation of a patch provided by the manufacturer. In such cases, you may consider applying the suggested workaround as a temporary or compensating mitigation: "As a workaround, uninstall and reinstall the impacted SAP Business One components manually. Please assess the workaround applicability for your SAP landscape prior to implementation.".
