Advisory
A note with CVSS 9.9 for component CEC-COM-CPS-WEB-CAI was released by SAP on 14.12.2021. The correction/advisory 3109577 was described with "Code Execution vulnerability in SAP Commerce, localization for China" and affects the system type SAP Commerce.
A workaround exists, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as part of maintenance.
The vulnerability addressed is code injection within SAP Commerce.
Risk specification
SAP Commerce Cloud uses the open-source library Xstream which has multiple serialization/deserialization issues allowing an authenticated attacker to execute code on the system.Solution
The affected open-source library has been updated to resolve these issues. Although an alternative solution exists, it is advisable to apply the correction! This is the workaround, which was suggested by the SAP security experts: "A workaround for this vulnerability is to manually exchange the xstream jar files with the current versions as described in the note".
