Advisory
A note with CVSS 4.1 for component BC-SRV-DX-DXW was released by SAP on 09.07.2024. The correction/advisory 3454858 was described with "[CVE-2024-37180] Information Disclosure vulnerability in SAP NetWeaver Application Server for ABAP and ABAP Platform" and affects the system type ABAP.
A workaround exists, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as part of maintenance.
The vulnerability addressed is directory traversal (read) within ABAP.
Missing authority checks are still the most common security defect related to authorizations in custom code. A vulnerability in the SAP NetWeaver Application Server for ABAP and ABAP Platform allows an authenticated attacker to use a remote-enabled function module without additional authorization, resulting in a directory traversal vulnerability.Solution
Access to only the path maintained for Logical File Name /SAPDMC/LSMW_FILE is granted to users utilizing Function module F4_DXFILENAME_TOPRECURSION. This control prevents users from navigating to any other directory. Although an alternative solution exists, it is advisable to apply the correction! This is the workaround, which was suggested by the SAP security experts: "Update in progress".
