Advisory

A note with CVSS 6.2 for component BC-JAS-WEB was released by SAP on 14.04.2020. The correction/advisory 2826528 was described with "[CVE-2020-6224] Information Disclosure in SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java (HTTP Service)" and affects the system type Java.

A workaround does not exist, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as part of maintenance.

The vulnerability addressed is information disclosure within Java.

Information disclosure is when an application fails to properly protect sensitive and confidential information from parties that are not supposed to have access to the subject matter in normal circumstances.
Carefully review every information disclosure vulnerablity in regards to disclosure obligations post-GDPR for ‘Personal data’ under the Data Protection Act 2018.

This note has been re-released with updated ‘Support Packages & Patches’ information. Under certain conditions, SAP NetWeaver AS Java allows an attacker with administrative privileges to access information and user sensitive data such as passwords in trace files.

Solution

The affected system component no longer reveals internal information and user's sensitive data.
