On 08.11.2022 a security relevant correction has been released by SAP SE. The manufacturer resolves an issue within Java.
SAP Note 3238042 addresses "[CVE-2022-41207] URL Redirection vulnerability in SAP Biller Direct" to prevent url redirection vulnerability with a medium risk for exploitation.
A workaround does not exist, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as monthly patch process, the team suggests.
Risk specification
SAP Biller Direct allows an unauthenticated attacker to craft a legitimate-looking URL. When clicked by an unsuspecting user, it will use an unsanitized parameter to redirect the victim to a malicious site of the attacker's choosing, which can result in the disclosure or modification of the user's information.Solution
The URL will be validated before the application performs the redirect.
