A note with CVSS 6.1 for component BC-MID-ICF was released by SAP on 14.02.2023. The correction/advisory 3271227 was described with "[CVE-2023-23853] URL Redirection vulnerability in SAP NetWeaver Application Server for ABAP and ABAP Platform" and affects the system type ABAP.

A workaround does not exist, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as monthly patch process.

The vulnerability addressed is url redirection vulnerability within ABAP.

SAP NetWeaver Application Server for ABAP and ABAP Platform allows an unauthenticated attacker to redirect users to a malicious site due to a test class in the Internet Communication Framework provided with a redirect functionality.

Solution

The redirect functionality is withdrawn from the test class in the Internet Communication Framework.
