SAP takes the security of its vast product portfolio very seriously and thus releases security fixes for vulnerabilities reported by external researchers and their customers every second Tuesday of the month.

SAP Note 3335394 was released on 12.11.2024 and deals with "[CVE-2024-42372] Missing Authorization check in SAP NetWeaver AS Java (System Landscape Directory)" within Java. We advice you to follow the instructions, to resolve missing authentication check with a medium potential for exploitation in component BC-CCM-SLD.

According to SAP Security Advisory team a workaround does not exist. It is advisable to implement the correction as part of maintenance.

Risk specification

SAP Netweaver AS Java SLD (System Landscape Directory) allows an authenticated user to read and modify some restricted global SLD configurations, resulting in low impact on confidentiality and integrity of the application.

Solution

A proper authorization check was added to prevent the vulnerability.
