Advisory
A note with CVSS 6.5 for component CA-GTF-DOB was released by SAP on 11.06.2024. The correction/advisory 3459379 was described with "[CVE-2024-34683] Unrestricted file upload in SAP Document Builder (HTTP service)" and affects the system type ABAP.
A workaround exists, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as project.
The vulnerability addressed is missing security function within ABAP.
Missing authority checks are still the most common security defect related to authorizations in custom code. This note has been re-released with updated manual instructions information. A vulnerability in SAP Document Builder service allows an authenticated attacker to upload malicious files. If a victim accesses the file, the attacker can access or modify the related information in the browser of the victim.Solution
During file upload, the MIME type is checked with a new scan functionality. Although an alternative solution exists, it is advisable to apply the correction! This is the workaround, which was suggested by the SAP security experts: "Create a custom virus scan profile with the permitted MIME types and add it to the Web Dynpro Application IPRO/WD_DOCB as described in the note.".
