On 10.12.2024 a security relevant correction has been released by SAP SE. The manufacturer resolves an issue within SAP Commerce Cloud.

SAP Note 3535451 addresses "[CVE-2024-47577] Information Disclosure vulnerability in SAP Commerce Cloud" to prevent information disclosure with a low risk for exploitation.

A workaround does not exist, according to SAP Security Advisory team. It is advisable to implement the correction as monthly patch process, the team suggests.

Information disclosure is when an application fails to properly protect sensitive and confidential information from parties that are not supposed to have access to the subject matter in normal circumstances.
Carefully review every information disclosure vulnerablity in regards to disclosure obligations post-GDPR for ‘Personal data’ under the Data Protection Act 2018.

Risk specification

SAP Commerce Cloud Assisted Service Module allows an attacker with access to server logs to view user data in query parameters, resulting in the attacker obtaining confidential customer information.

Solution

Added new API endpoints that use request body parameters for data transfer to prevent logging of sensitive information.
